China’s history is rich and extends 4,000 years of dynasties and empires. Today China has the largest economy, military, and population. China owns over half the U.S. debt which gives them considerable bargaining power and can have a considerable impact on U.S. foreign policy. But China was not always this world power we see; how did it rise to its prominent position in the world today? In this unit we are going to examine China’s 10 dynasties, trade and the Silk Road, religion, philosophy, government, and a number of past social issues that connects Chinese immigrants and the U.S. today.
